I came off Madison on Saturday and made a bee-line for Gorham and the little ice cream shack outside of Wilfred's Restaurant on Main Street. I was crushed to find it closed. :( (I really, really wanted a raspberry chocolate chip cone.)

Does anyone know of another ice cream place in Gorham? I don't want to have to settle for a Dove Bar from Cumberland Farms again.

The ice cream stand at Wilfred's usually opens up once school is out, so it should be soon as it is staffed by high schoolers. The only close by alternative is Mr Pizza. If you are willing to drive up to Berlin there are three ice cream places; There is one on the north end of the old railroad station that is next to the pulpmill on the east side of the river (dependent upon the wind direction you may see why the local ball teams have a home field advantage). This is convienent to people coming or going to Success Pond road. There is an ice cream parlor on Pleasant street which runs parallel to the one way portion of Main street (drive up through main street and take a u turn at the big brick church where the road switches back to two way traffic. The final and best in the area is the Northland Diary Bar which is north of town. As Sli mentioned they have great food both sit in and take out. Some people plan their vacations around fresh berry pie season!. Several folks have claimed that there are no restaurants in Gorham that are as good for the price. If you have driven up that far drive a few miles farther north to Milan to the Nansen Wayside in Milan and check out the ski jump.

Don't know about Gorham, BUT, We were cruising down Rte 10 looking for ice cream and found a little stand.

"White Mountain Raspberry" More like Vanilla sworled with great gobs of raspberry, and filled with chucks of white chocolate.

I'm not a ice cream eater but I see a lot of detours in the future.
