Hoping to catch some "in and out of the clouds" weather for a possible glimpse of the new snowy cloak draped upon the higher peaks, I headed up Mount Jackson at about 7:30 this am from Crawford Notch. I met Jeremy just as he was leaving the summit, headed down and on to Moriah - he had broken the trail to the summit of Jackson. Quite a few blowdowns.

Great untracked, deep snow from from Jackson to Pierce, sinking 4" to 16", with a slow elevator-ride down, energy sapping quality to the snow. A few fellows from Maine appeared behind me, announcing that they would be following me for the rest of the day as their itinerary, as they really weren't very good at following snowy trails, and didn't know the trails, and didn't know the exit routes. But they were fun.

It was cloudy in the morning, and remained so all the way to Pierce. I started heading down the Crawford Path, a bit bummed at the lack of pix, but then I started to see some patches of blue sky. So I headed back up to Pierce and arrived just as the clouds were starting to open up a bit. Great show for the next 45 minutes!:

Great pictures, Tim.

The newly rebuilt Eisenhower summit cairn really stands out in your winter (late fall ) pics. Better than the old decrepit one would have, I assume. And way to lead some noobs safely around the woods. :p

Great colors for a near winter shot in the second photo.

Mean Guys?

During your wait did you happen to spot and crazy blue summit beacon snow pants off in the distance?

Spectacular photos - and obviously a spectacular day! One of these should be framed and on your wall Tim! Great stuff.

Well perhaps his gallery wall anyway....

Well perhaps his gallery wall anyway.... You may not be aware, but Mr. Seaver is a pro or semi-pro photographer. He maintains a web gallery at the link below. Besides knowing his camera, he specializes in being in right spot at the right time to capture those golden moments in the Mountains. We should be thankful (and proud) he subscribes to this site and shares his fine work with us. Thanks for sharing Tim! If it's ok with moderators, you really should put a link to your gallery in your signature.

I didn't know but should have guessed from those pictures. Definitely a mix of being in the right place at the right time and knowing how to capture it. Just visited the gallery and hove only begun to explore. Beautiful work. I would certainly think a link in Tim's signature is in order (and the images from last weekend definitely need to find a home in the gallery).
