Yeah, keep this in your wallet so that it's always there. Since it's always there, you don't think about it, then you take a ride on a plane and loose it. (I also lost my folding ice axe that way)
Pete, What size Wallet do you carry in the winter anyways?????? :D :D

I always carry the Swiss Camper knife on me and usually carry one model up (comes with a magnifying glass) when backpacking.

I got nailed by airport security a couple of years ago. I was late and had could not check my bag (the knife was in there). I went through security checkpoint with no problems, but then I got singled out for a full security check at the gate and they found it in my luggage. A big hulking hunk of a lady they said they would have to confiscate it. I asked if tweezers and toothpicks were OK on the plane. she said they weren't on the banned list. I said fine, I reached over and picked up my knife from the counter where they had set it, pulled the tweezers and toothpick out and put them in my pocket.
She looked at me and started to say you can't do that - but I smiled, held my hand up and said - "You just told me Toothpicks and tweezers are allowed on the plane. Here's the knife." I then handed her the pocketknife.

I think I caught both guards off guard, but I figured if they were keeping the knfe as their swag,, they weren't keeping the tweezers and toothpick.

If I had to buy a new knife, at least I had tweezers and toothpick replacements!!! :D

In the days of frame packs (which ended pretty recently for me) I had a small sheath knife tied to my pack frame next to my head. Always handy.

I carry a small SAK with me at almost all times--I leave it on my desk if I have to go to the courthouse. It has scissors (for cutting moleskin) and a Philips head screwdriver instead of a corkscrew. I use the various screwdrivers all the time. Besides, you can always cut out a cork with a good, sharp knife!
