I've been up Abraham twice and both times I thought to myself that the upper portion of the Fire Warden's Trail would be easy to lose if there was a lot of snow or if visability was low. Actually, even once you're back in the woods the blazing is minimal.

Super fun hike though!

The Abraham Spur Trail from the AT is impossible to lose. The treadway is excellent and easy to follow and you will have no problem following it in the woods. Once you break open out of the woods, just proceed along the ridge line with the remains of the fire tower in view as your destination. Even going the other way the route is well marked and obvious.

We did the Firewarden's trail a year ago in January, and while pretty hard to lose below treeline, as injektilo says, you definitely want to pay attention to your tracks and/or what the last few bushes look like at treeline, and maybe, if you're feeling compulsive, a compass bearing or (heaven forbid) a GPS waypoint :D to put in your mental memory for the way down. The trail emerges at a bit of an angle to the slope. If visibility and/or heavy snow were an issue, I'd think hard about turning around at treeline if it was winter. Summertime, you have more clues/blazes to follow, and so less of a problem.
I must say, this was one of my top 5 most fun winter hikes though.
