Liberty and Flume was such a fun hike to do in winter! We were wet for the first half as the branches were dripping all over us (we thought it was actually raining lol!) but we did get some really good undercast views. We did a TON of buttsledding. Probably 2/3 of the way down and a bunch of the trail between Liberty and Flume. No snowshoes were necessary as the trail was packed out really well.

Full trip report and a hilarious butt sled video are in the link below:

The view on top was all worth it. We bumped into you on the summit (3 guys). I left my sled in the car... I should have taken it. We skied from Lincoln Woods up Osseo until comfortable and then left the skis and snowshoed up. It was impossible to keep dry in those conditions. Good thing I had a drybag with dry clothes for the hike down. By the time we got to the car I was totally drenched again.

That's it!!! After watching that video I think I will shuck away all fears and give it a try. I think I might be missing out on WAY too much FUN! Thanks for sharing.

Definitely try out sledding! It was so much fun and now I'm convinced it's the only way down! Brambor, we were soaked too. All those drippy trees!

The sledding does look like fun. I have not done very much of that, so I don't know all the ins and outs. But like with any type of glissade, would it be a good idea to remove the crampons first?

Remove crampons before sliding, unless you want to break your ankle, have a rescue reported in the UL!
