Livermore Trail from Kanc--any info?

I've read in a few places that the Livermore Trail, from the Kanc to Livermore Pass is "seldom used."

Anybody been on this part of the trail fairly recently and can tell me what I might expect? I.e does seldom used in this case = hard to follow?

Any other info on hiking in on this trail from the Kanc would be much appreciated.

Hi! I was on the trail a couple weeks ago. It is not hard to follow. The start is VERY pretty looking into the notch ahead (south). A couple VERY little steep sections, so it's not completely flat, although it looks pretty flat on the map. All intersections were well marked, just, make sure you carry a map!!!

I have hiked this a number of times. You should have no problem. The trail goes through some clear-cut sections, and takes a sharp left 15-20 minutes in. There is an arrow pointing out the right direction. From that point on it is pretty well blazed.

I agree with Becca that this is a very pretty trail.

Yes, I agree too, beauty of a trail!! Last time I was up there, (begining of Sept.) it was a little wet at the top of the pass, nothing crazy, just have to watch where you step in the grassy areas. enjoy!

Is there a parking lot, or just a wide spot on the edge of the road?

It's a wide spot, enough to fit 2-3 cars.....depending on how everyone parks/how big the cars are.

Across the road is a pond where people frequently pull over to look for moose and there is more of a shoulder to park on there if the Livermore Tr. spot is full.

I usually park across the road, at Lily Pond. Rarely are there other cars parked there.

Were you by chance hiking on 9/11 with another lady? I was heading to the Skidder Trail and met two ladies who told me the trail was just around the coner. I was wearing a kilt, so I'm hard to miss.

There's very pleasant skiing on both sides of the road there, although it gets a little challenging heading up into the pass (eyepoke blowdowns & pine-tar roots). The Lily Pond trail also offers nice skiing, down to the Sawyer River Trail. Great locale for a little afternoon jaunt, in whatever season. As I recall, one among us has bushwhacked in there in search of wildlife, producing some pretty amazing photos. Wonderful spot!

I drove by there earlier today, as a matter of fact.

As Michelle indicated, at the trailhead is an area large enough for 2-3 cars to park.

Directly across the road from the trailhead is a viewpoint for Lily Pond, with enough space for 4-5 cars along the side of the road.

Hi! I was there (solo) on Sept 25th and didn't see anybody until the north peak!!! The skidder trail is also interesting and remote-feeling...

Ditto. I noticed the sign while driving past, was not sure about parking.
