Do you have some suggestions for lodging near the Adirondack Loj trailhead?

How about the Loj itself ? They have bunkrooms and private rooms.

Or camping in the Loj campground or on South Meadow Rd.

Jackrabbit motel right down the road. They also offer a hostel for cheaper bunks. High peaks hostel in lake placid.

Alpine Club of Canada's Keene Farm

You might consider joining the ACC and thereby gain eligibility to use their Keene Farm.

Depends on what you're looking for. Lake Placid has plenty of hotels/motels, but some of them (e.g., Mirror Lake Inn, Hilton) are pricey. Cheapest is the place that used to be the St. Moritz (now under new ownership, but still only about $60) For cheap sleeps, there's a very basic motel in Keene (Woodruff, maybe...can't remember the name) for about $40. Also, The Hostel in Keene Valley (maybe farther than you want to be from the Loj trailhead) has bunkroom accomodations for about $20.

It is the Woodruff and it is currently closed. I'm hoping it's only closed for the summer (looks like they might be doing some work on the rooms?) since that is usually where we stay in the winter time.
