Looking for a new hiking map app

Not sure where you are hiking, but if it’s in the Whites, I strongly recommend AMC maps through Avenza app. Actually, I’ve used Avenza all over the country with great success. You do have to ‘buy’ the maps of where you are going—but one could argue in the Whites there are no better maps then AMC and Avenza supports all of the Trails Illustrated maps for NPs etc. I even have the Maine Delorme book on Avenza. It’s a fee app, AMC maps are $5.99, I think.

You can def zoom in. Don’t know about route tracking etc. think ea map is $5.99–one and done. App is free and there’s no annual fee. I love them for their simplicity and they are same map as paper AMC maps, which I’ve used for years. And, if you’re traveling you can often find free or low cost maps to use for hiking.
