BEAUTIFUL photos, SherpaK! Looks like an incredible adventure. I still have a hard time believing that the Whites have that much snow...especially during the past few days' 70 degree weather!

nice!

Ahhh... Gray Knob. What a great place... the guitar, playing cards, and it seems the flasks always come out up there! Such a party at 40 degrees... downright tropical!

I was up a couple of years ago during an inversion... humid as living hell. made for soggy sleeping... very weird in such cold temps... but thanks for the report! looks like a GREAT weekend!!

Mike...what a great way to start winter hiking. Wish Mtnpa and I could
have been there, but had the folks up on Sunday. We did start up Lowe's
on Saturday but ended up turning back. We'll have to do a winter hike
with you. Maybe next time Gail and Aaron will make the trip up to the
mountain house. Nice pics SherpaK!

Hey! I've been there. One of my first ever Northeast hikes in fact. I took the exact same route wondering why the trail was so steep from the Log Cabin up. I stayed 2 nights at Grey Knob. The custodian was a Dylan freak and he and I played through about 50 tunes. He on the guitar, Crag Camp's custodian on a conga and me on the flute. It was great. I'd love to go back in the winter and re-do the surrounding peaks.
