Parked at the plowed area at the end of the road to Underhill State Park--pretty tricky with 2WD and no snow tires! There's another parking area a mile or two down the road if you struggle up the big hill.
Laura Cowles looked to be broken out a few days before but there was a few inches of snow on top of the tracks. Sunset Ridge was well broken out below treeline, though snowshoes were definitely needed as of early this week. Above treeline it was quite difficult to follow the trail, mostly just took the path of least resistance and broke out a trail through the knee deep powder. Gorgeous blue sky but quite frigid and windy up on the summit. The trail is easy to follow but there are a few sections of being hunched over through the trees, a couple more feet of snow will make it a bit tedious. One can probably leave the microspikes behind for this hike, even with the road walk was only a 3.5h hike.
