ELKINS, W.Va. (AP) — A search was under way Monday for an autistic hiker who got separated from his parents in the Dolly Sods Wilderness area.

That's awful. It's my understanding that many autistic people seek solitude. Given that, I wonder how much help this young man can be in getting himself found.

Dolly Sods

Jeez. I have hiked most of the trails in that area, and that is a very remote area. I have gotten turned around before and I had to hike along an open meadow about 3000' up (Roaring Plains, it is called) during a thunderstorm in order to get back to my car. Might have been my scariest hiking experience ever.
