Maybe it's just me, but that avatar of fluorescent green broccoli is really freakin' me out! I don't know if it's something from my childhood or something, but I find it horrifying!

I'm not attempting to hi-jack this thread. Strictly making an observation about vegetables...
i met mookie in person and it horrified me.

ossipees? never heard of em...

Never been there myself, but I hear there's a really good map floating around somewhere. It's tough to find that map, though, from what I hear. Doesn't get a lot of press on the hiking boards.

thats just what i do.

broccoli is gone......

What have I done? I'm in therapy now, and making great strides in accepting vivid illustrations of fruits and vegtables......

Broccoli is OK!!!!!!!!

And I think Ken Peterson held that before Gary back in the late 80s / early 90s. Don't remember his final count though.

Does Larry Davis still hold the descent record down the white dot? IIRC it was somewhere in the range of 18 minutes!

I'll agree with Woody - Spellman is the best trail on the whole mountain. It you want some steeps for a quick workout, this one has it.

Larry still has the record as far as I know..hiked with Larry on Monadnock many of times...he moved away but is back now I hear. We hiked it on New Year's eve and be on the summit at midnight..frozen beer & champagne flowed or more like popsicles..Raced down with Larry too, couldn't beat him but stayed with him for some of it....

Spellman/Marlboro & Pumpelly are my favorite trails..:D

For speed it's usually up White dot- down white cross..I know Garry too, but don't remember which trails he used...didn't listen well..ooops!!:p

About 7 years ago while hiking I saw two hikers trying to beat the record. do not know if one of them were Gary.

I also toyed with "red lining" Monadnock in a day. It would take some planning but I think it could be done. possible car spot or pick-up at Pumpelly to Dublin and Marlboro to Royce. The trails near the half0way house would be a pain.
