Happy New Year everybody!
Moosilauke on New Year's Day - temps in the 40's, hard packed but slushy along the Glencliff Traill, and a muddy slush bath on the ridge leading to the summit. Many, many, deep puddles of slush and mud. One good freeze, and the trail will become a bumpy ice rink (if it hasn't already.)
FYI, South Peak barely broken out a few days early by one snowshoer, better broken out now. Was able to bare boot the entire hike with no post holing trouble.
The Moose was crazy busy - must have seen 100 people going up or coming down. Parking lot spilled over down the street.
Mist and clouds cleared up here and there, great views generally.
Excellent start to the new year!
