Trail Conditions: We had intended to do Snapper Trail- Carriage Road -Summit - return via Gorge Brook. Everything fine until we reached the narrow upper section of the Carriage Road. Rain had covered the spruces with half an inch or so of ice. Result: trail full of "lean-overs" - not blow-downs - many spruces are leaning over the trail because of the weight of the ice on the branches. After crawling under and climbing over a few, we gave up after 100 feet or so. Better wait until this melts before trying this one! Gorge Brook Trail passible.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes or skis essential.
Comments: Spectacular but - upper part of the Carriage Road impassible until a melt-down!
