I went up Moose Mtn. again today...this time with avk4316, who has a lot of miles under his feet in the woods on this little hill. We were going to go on a little archaeological expedition.
There was snow higher up.
First we came to eagle rock, which used to stand up and look like the head and shoulder of an eagle. It must've fallen down recently.....but you can still see the eagle.
Next we went across to the AT, and back into the woods to see if I could find the old wood stove I had seen in the middle of the woods a couple of weeks ago. It took a while, but we found it!
Then back across the AT to a section where Allen knew there was an old stone foundation, a possible charcoal kiln, and an dry stone spring fed well, which is still full of water!
There were some neat reflections in the well....
We got back to my car, and I had forgotten my keys in Allen's car at the other trailhead! So we had a longer adventure than we had both planned for.....but it was still some good time in the woods!
Thanks Allen, for showing me even more cool trails/spots on that neat little mountain! I'm glad you still made your lecture on time, barely.
