So I have never done this loop before but has always been at the top of my list for early or late season hikes. I always wonder where to park for this hike though. I have done the easy Rattlesnake across the street on Old Bridal Path I believe it was and I remember a lot kind of across the street from that trail. Is that the parking for Morgan or Percival too? Or are there other parking lots on that road that I don't remember seeing when I did Rattlesnake?

I know sometimes early in the season these lots may still be closed also. I am looking to do this loop sometime in April so still like 3 or so weeks away anyway.

That's the lot for both. There is a connector trail. It has been plowed in past years.

Also an fyi - they close the Morgan/Percival lot during mud season. You can still hike them - you just have to park in the lot on the other side of the road. And be gentle, the trail gets really muddy in the spring.

Drove past the lots today - all seemed to be closed (due to mud I guess??) At least 50 cars parked along the shoulders.... Must have been crowded in the hills!!!!

So I take it parking along the road is legal then? I thought I remembered a while back someone saying that was illegal?

Good info, thanks all!

Yes, parking along the road is legal - you just have to be all the way off the roadway. I'm actually suprised to hear that the new big lot is closed too - it appeared to have good drainage... But, maybe they're closing it to limit traffic on the trails. Anyway, have fun, be ready for mud, and enjoy :)

If anyone from VFTT was among the hordes there, please post something about conditions: snow line and how wet the trail is.

Thanks!

I could probably be convinced to take a side trip over there this week if you're looking for conditions for the weekend... Just let me know if that would be helpful.

You're welcome :)

Its a pleasant hike if you do choose to go over there.
