There was a LOT of cars at the trailheads on Saturday. A group of seven of us left a car at the bottom of Nineteen Mile Brook (there were even cars parked across the road, the lot was so full), and then drove over to Bangor St and went up the Carter-Moriah Trail. There were far more cars than people. Saw only a few groups en route up to Moriah. The trail is in very good condition, and indeed, we encountered one, maybe two blowdowns over the whole trip.

Made it Imp shelter without incident, although I should note that heading down to Imp from Moriah, the trail is not always obvious. There are several spots where the are dead end trails heading off when they should, and of course we followed, making them look even more like actual trails. A little trail maintenance of blocking the wrong ones probably would be of benefit. When you are walking down an open ledge and come to a cairn, chances are that it is indicating a turn. Keep this in mind and it will serve you well.

Imp shelter was in good condition. The stream was running fully. The outhouse has a full bag of wood chips. There were eleven of us in the shelter Saturday night, a single hiker with a small dog tented, as did a group of four who arrived just before sunset. We gave the place a good sweep before we departed Sunday morning, and I think it is in good condition for the next group. The chair is currently on the porch. Be advised that if you haven't been there before, it typically sits below inside and doubles as steps to the top shelf.

The trail across the Carters is in very good condition. Crossings were high, and one of the bridges is half gone. Other than that, it's all good.

Happy hiking!
