It gets old really quickly when you live in the area and have to listen to the loud bikes for a dozen days straight.

I can imagine. But since you also have to deal with Massholes like me crowding your roads on our way to the trailheads, I don't feel I'm in a position to complain.

I will say one of the most amusing sights I've seen in Franconia Notch was a bunch of biker dudes who decided it would be fun to hoof it up Lafayette - leather vests, 'do-rags, biker boots and all. I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time :D

I certainly don't equate bikers with Hell's Angels. I've been in the Whites on Biker Week a few times and the bikers I came in contact with where good people, most mind their own business and don't bother you. Hell's Angels are nothing more than an organized crime gang.

Just using that as an example. I saw both back patches in NH this past weekend. And who says they can't be good people? from what I know about both groups is that a small % of both ever have anything to with crime. I would love to party with them to be honest. :)

I hear ya, I can't stand those people from Massachusetts. Of course, I am one of them :) Nonetheless...

It was funny to see the bikers on Sunday during the downpours - they were hopping from laundromat to laundromat, throwing all of their clothes into driers.

Ya know...I carry rain gear when hiking and I carry rain gear when biking. Some people are just 'clueless' in both groups.

I lived for four years right outside of Weirs Beach, so obviously I was right in the middle of it all. I was working for a retail shop in downtown Laconia, and Bike Week was a HUGE week for numbers. There were maybe 5-6 couples who came every year to the store. They'd each drop $2k plus. It was their highlight of the year...and ours, too :)

That being said, I always took the last weekend off (it always falls around my anniversary) and got out of town for the weekend. It does get pretty loud. At times, they can intrude -->like the time my dog went nuts barking at the slider and I looked out to see some biker dudes on the back deck hosing themselves down. I came out and was like "um, can I help you?" in my best chickensh** voice. But, they were all really cool and we all had a couple of beers together. But, for the most part, the 'commoners' don't get bothered. You also get to see some pretty scantily-clad outfits, too. :D

It brings a tremendous amount of $$$ to the area. For some places, it can make or break your year.

If you don't like the sounds or the intrusion, go someplace else IMO.
