I never realized so much of the snow and ice melted off.
That must've been an awesome trip.

Actually, the snow level is above average this year. At least it was in early July when I was up in the Cascades, and from the looks of it, they're still skiing Hood. As Julie's earlier TR on St Helens indicated, they had to hike up an additional 2K' from the road to Climbers Bivouac, which is summer TH. Normally, Hood is more rock than snow/ice, at least on the side where the Palmer chairlift is located, by early August.
