Hi Everyone!

It's great to be able to post a trip report...it seems like it has been so long for me. I was really happy to be able to take part in the MWObs hike-a-thon, Seek the Peak this year. I hiked Tuckerman to Lion Head and went down the same way. Please visit my blog and check out my report and pics. It was a sort of re-do for me since I hiked this same route back in 98' and swore off hiking forever (first hike ever, didn't know what to expect then).

Great report, and the old 1998 report is pretty sweet too. Sweet meaning, yikes, that sounds REALLY really rough! I am impressed that you have forgiven the mountain for its rather humbling assault that day, and returned to hike it again, for real.

Glad it was a good day this time, and congrats on the brand new kiddo.

Thanks Kevin - I can't wait to hike with her! I'm very excited for it. I've already planned out our Prezi Traverse, and hut stays...although I'm guessing these are years away. I'm hoping she'll want to tackle the 48's with us as well!

Thanks Unstrung Harp - I'm glad you liked the old TR too. I had never really set foot in the Whites and had no idea what to expect. I didn't return for 10 more years...and wouldn't you know, I actually liked hiking when I tried it a second time. This was still a tough hike for me, but enjoyable nonetheless. Glad you liked it.

Trish - Thanks! She is so beautiful! Like I said above, I can't wait to take her on the trails with us. I also can't wait to pickup a copy of Up so I can get some pointers on hiking with a daughter - from the expert!

Thanks everyone!

Hi Karl, thanks -- though I have to point out that I'm only an expert on hiking with my own children. Each parent-child relationship is unique; you'll be the best judge of what's right for your daughter.

Congratulations once again on the biggest adventure there is -- parenthood!

Karl,
Thoroughly enjoyed reading your report and great photos too. It goes to show that determination can take over when you have a goal. I think you made out way better this time around; especially since you hadn't had time to trained for the hike. No matter how many hours it takes; job well done!

Your last picture: absolutely adorable!

Donna:)

Awesome trip report karl glad it turned out better than 98! The photos were awesome and after reading your report I know why I didnt see you at the the kickoff party. I couldnt do the Hike this year but reading you report made me feel like I was there.

Hey Jim - Yeah, wasn't able to make the kickoff party, unfortunately. Sorry you couldn't make the hike. It was a beautiful day. We'll see you at it next year!

Hi Patrick - I'm glad you liked it! Thanks!

Karl . . . sorry I'm so late in responding! The full report you posted on your Blog, and the photos you posted are first-rate! Two of the photos particularly catch my eye. One is the awesome picture of the lenticular cloud. But, that particular picture is no match for the absolutely delightful photo of your daughter Lylah!

John

Nice report Karl and great pics - those lenticular clouds over Wildcat are great - I've seen those in a few trip reports recently. Congrats on getting up and down Lion's Head. And of course on your new baby girl. She'll be hiking in no time. My 3 YO daughter was having a bit of a fit recently when she was over-tired but insisted on going "bushwhacking" to this boulder she wanted to scramble up in the woods near our home. It's great you plan to show her the gift of nature...

Nice story Karl, and great pics. Whenever I see "STP", I keep thinking Stone Temple Pilots......gotta start thinking Seek the Peak!

Hi John - Thanks! I have to agree with you, the picture of Lylah pretty much trumps the whole report!

Hi Raven - Those clouds were very cool that day. They continually grew from a very small cloud to a very large one. However, after I went into the building at the summit, I lost track of it. I don't recall seeing it on the way down, so I assume it dispersed.

Hi PTECH - Thanks! STP can stand for both :)
