Wife brought home a bumper sticker for having contibuted a few bucks at EMS in North Conway. "MountainRescueService (dot) org" is on it, which leads to an empty page. "NHMRS (dot) org" seems to be the correct site, logo, etc. That site looks great; volunteers, S&R, etc. "Mountain Rescue Service" searched here will probably turn up every thread ever posted here; so I'm wondering if you have any input re "NHMRS (dot) org" and if my wife actually contributed to "the cause" or if I should guard, discard and disregard said bumpa sticka. Happy New Everything All The Time to you and yours.

Happy New Everything All The Time to you and yours.

That's so cute and the same to YOU! :)

Good question! Very nice web site. I would give to them also.

The article "Confessions of a Reluctant Rescuer" is wonderful. A great description of the nuts and bolts of a rescue.
Just plain tedious, hard work with hopefully a great reward at the end!

They are a legitimate group with many members being climbing guides including Rick Wilcox of IME, they are involved in most Conway-area technical and above-treeline rescues

They seem to have rescues well taken care of but looks like they could use some volunteers on the website :)

If this is the same Mountain Rescue Service that I met many years ago, I am very much in favor of giving some support to them. They had a really beat up HEAVY folding metal stretcher that one guy had carried up the mountain and was assembling when more help came along. These trained guys brought oxygen, bandages and other stuff, along with the ropes and experience to to lug me out. These climbing guides had come to Cannon Cliff from North Conway for free and on their own time, (Note, NH Fish and Game refused to come to the scree pile from the Park base at the gondola) and lowered my sorry butt off the hill and sent me to Littleton for a week of R&R. I tried to find out how to purchase a newer and lighter litter for them but never heard back. In my book the guides of North Conway provide a superb training program and when the newbies like me get in a mess, they will come and try to save your butt, on their own time. They don't get a paycheck from the State like Fish and Game. If Mountain Rescue needs support, let me know, I will do my part. Perhaps you should too, you never know when you might need help. They won't even charge you for the rescue if you are stupid but don't over do it or the rules may have to change. It only takes a few to ruin it for everyone.
