I feel very comfortable in the woods, anywhere, anytime. Except when it's T'storming with out of control lightening, because that's one thing I can't "completely" control......
I prefer hiking-bushwhacking alone, just due to the fact that I don't like to be on a "schedule", or placing my partner(s) under extreme duress. Of course there are times when the family has to get together at a state campsite with associated friends.... (This to me is "extreem duress")
There's nothing more exciting than being in the backcountry scrambling over ridges, discovering remote ponds, lakes and streams with wild brookies being the target. Even during the hunting season, Which is merely an excuse to get out there, I usually wind up where I shouldn't be, too late in the day, and end up egressing via headlamp, Maybe....
Snowshoeing is even better, the walk out, if necessary, is quite easy and fun especially during "bright nights". I must qualify this though, if I'm pushing it so to speak, it's usually in familiar grounds, but remote enough to get the usual remark from my friends "You're Nutz"
I can't wait!!!!!!
