Mt Colden (Trail: Mt Marcy via Hoevenberg Tr, Lake Arnold Tr & L. Morgan Porter Tr)
Date of Hike: March 26 2011
Trail Conditions: Snow was well packed almost all the trails we used from Adirondak Loj to Mt Colden summit. At the very close to summit of Mt Colden area, there was no foot prints and we broke the trail, but, it wasn't a big deal. With ADK Club regulation, we're required to use Snowshoes at this time (when snow is stuck more than 6 inches) even when snow is well packed on the ground, therefore, we left Crampons and Microspikes in the car and wore Snowshoes all the time during our 12 miles RT hike.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes - Required based on the amount of snow on the trails.
Comments: Optional - It was beautiful day to hike. We could see 360 degree views from the summit of Mt Colden. Mt Marcy, Algonquin, Iriquois summites are very clearly seen.
Happy Trails,
Tomoko
