Do they run the chair up Sugarbush North in the summer? vacation drive may go past & was just thinking of a possible detour with kids so not hiking up. (There is a great view from -near - the top)

I seem to recall people taking the easy way up way back when I did the hike.

Thanks

No summer lifts on Mt Ellen.

But the Bravo chair at Sugarbush South works in summer and can take you about 3/4 the way up to Lincoln Peak. Then after climbing to the summit (~700 ft vertical) up a ski trail, it's ~2.5 mile hike over the ridge on the LT to Ellen. Nice trail, but all in the woods.

Agree with Rup, I live there and definitely no chair up Ellen but the Sugarbush ride is nice. If you're on Rt 100 though, you may consider Killington, if the chair's running it takes you just a few feet from the top with great views and/or Mansfield, either the toll road which ends at a very scenic spot with a short kid friendly walk to a great alpine ridge scene or longer but still kid friendly walk to the summit, or the gondola, less scenic at the top, but both with a stop at Ben & Jerry's afterward. And what kid doesn't like that?
Enjoy!
