Date of Hike: Fri. 3-19-10
Trails: Avalon, Willey Range, Mt. Tom Spur, AZ
Firm this morning to jct. with AZ trail. Avalon a mess with monster postholes and very rough all the way to Field. Switched to snowshoes at AZ jct. and had them on all day due to soft conditions. Avalon wanders a little before connecting back on to the trail at the jct. with the Willey Range Trail.
Willey Range to Willey had very soft snow and that trail deviated quite a bit from the main trail, but it gets you there.
Willey Range from Field to Mt. Tom spur was a bushwhack for a while and had some wanderings just off the summit of Field, but gets you to the spur jct.
Spur to Tom was in good shape and well packed. AZ back was soft snow but in fairly good shape.
Both stream crossings are still bridged and in good shape. The usual blow down stuff when whacking 50 percent of the time.
Warm sunny day with great views. Just two other folks that I saw on the trail today.
