Trail in great shape, but hikers must remember that the gate on the access road closest to the trailhead is closed, and hikers must take the road for Gale River Trail, driving the complete loop to the parking lot for the Garfield Trail. There is intermittent ice on the trail as you get close to 4000, and some very slippery icy logs across a wet section a bit lower that you need to cross.
