I agree with Brambor, it is most likely a bolete of some type. I took a look in my Field Guide to N. American Mushrooms published by the Audubon Society, and what you pictured seems to fit the pictures and written descriptions of the boletes, including habitat.
I noticed quite a variety of fungus on the trails this year, either I was paying more attention or it was more moist/humid or a combination of the two.
This is the first I'm seeing this, but I'm not sure I can be of more help. Without seeing the entire mushroom, all I can say is that it is genus Boletus, but it doesn't appear to be one of the most common of them, Boletus edulis (the cep) which typically has a thicker stalk all the way from top to bottom. It could be though ..... Do you have any other pictures of this shroom??
