After finishing the 15 towers on the NH Fire Lookout Tower Quest and all the spring yard work, we figured it was time to get back to the pup's NH48 list.
We got to the Kinsman Ridge Trail via the Lonesome Lake and Fishin Jimmy Trails. We ran into a little bit of everything from dry trails to ice covered then eventually snow covered trails. We put the Microspikes on at about 8/10 of a mile and left them on until the South Peak summit, then used them again going back down. Snow totals ranged from 0-3 feet in spots. We had boots on the trail 8:00AM, so by the time we hit the ice and snow, things were still pretty firm for the most part. The monorail also started out quite firm, with a width ranging from a foot to a foot and a half. It also showed signs of deterioration and lots of postholes off to the sides.
We spent about a half hour on South Peak and had lunch, the views were fantastic. It was a beautiful day to be up there. During our descent things were really warming up and softening up. The snow bridges were cracking and moving slightly under foot, don't believe they will last much longer.
The pup now has 4 of the 48 and is still learn her trail manners, we discovered she doesn't like sunglasses, we're working it! lol
We're not picture people, we're video people and we did post to our YouTube channel if anyone is interested in seeing our day and what the trails looked like on Sunday. Link is...
