It was a day of "intimate" (that is to say, nonexistant) views from the summit of North Moat yesterday. But endorphins were released, calories burned, photos snapped, mosquitos fed, boots muddied - it's all good. Another day in the woods.

Ascended via Moat Mountain Tr.; descended via Red Ridge. Plenty of mud, particularly on lower stretches of Red Ridge. Some blowdowns between the N. Moat summit and the junction with Red Ridge. Stream crossings all manageable with care - poles helpful.

Mosquitos are out in force!

Nice chatting with the 13-person Meetup group.

Nice! Well said...it's always nice to hike and enjoy the woods on a day like that...nice photographs...

happy trails :)

Great shots!

I was thinking of hiking there next weekend to shoot the rhodora on that ridge. How much of it was in bloom already?

Thank you for the kind comments!

Jim - plenty of rhodora in bloom. But I also did see some that had yet to open. Hopefully you'll still have some to shoot next weekend!
