Can someone tell me if the trails up to the Doubleheads are closed right now due to mud season ?
The trails are open and there is a good parking lot. I would recommend going up the ski path to North, dropping down into the Col and climbing up to South, ( go past the ledge to a cairn for the true summit) then avoid descending the New path and descend back into the Col and follow the Old Path back to the parking lot. The old path is easier to descend and gets more traffic, not to mention it brings you back to your car.Can someone tell me if the trails up to the Doubleheads are closed right now due to mud season ?
I'll second the ski path ascent option. Old path is steep and very eroded, if gravity is your primary descent mechanism then you'll have no problem. The trails are open and there is a good parking lot.
