I just heard the first rumble of thunder, which means the storm is 1-10 miles away from Franconia. Hope everyone gets off the ridge.
Current NWS warning:
Statement as of 12:13 PM EDT on June 28, 2005
... Developing strong thunderstorms will produce very heavy rain early
this afternoon...
A strong thunderstorm near Crawford Notch will move very slowly to
the northeast between 1215 PM and 130 PM. This storm will produce
between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain in less than an hour..resulting in
street flooding.
Otherwise... look for widely scattered strong thunderstorms to become
more numerous during the early afternoon across northern New
Hampshire. These storms will have the potential to produce wind gusts
to 45 mph and frequent cloud to ground lightning.
In addition... any of these storms may produce 2 inches of rain in
less than an hour. This much rain may result in localized street
flooding... as well as sharp rises on small creeks and streams.
