Just wanted to throw out this idea again....My calendar is filling up with kids sports and I want to jam in my own trip....being a school teacher I'm off the week of 4/21 to 4/25...I'd really prefer to go during the week but I know that's out of the question for most of you, or is it?...any ideas?

No new baby music lessons here...I'm in the same boat as you David...too much time off. :D During the week would be fine with me as are weekends.

What kinda trip did you have in mind? Freshwater? Hudson River an option? I would definitely consider any plan!!!

Rick, as we speak, I have a 3rd calendar in front of me to triple check kids activities....I did the cub/boy scouts i think for 6-7 years....

Chris, I have no idea where to go, but I'm game to go anywhere.... :D

Let's see what others come up with also...

Jim and I could do a weekend but not weekdays. We still have a trip to Assateague on the agenda which will be the 2 or 3 weekend in April weather dependent. We are going to Banff Film Festival in Princeton the last Friday night in April and are planning to mountain bike at Round Lake in NJ on Saturday. We prob could be pursuaded to kayak though there on Saturday.

I'm planning on doing a weekend on Little Tupper lake/Rock Pond sometime this spring... Staying at a leanto, floating on the lake.... etc. etc.

Need help from our NJ friends....

Do we really need a parking permit for the day at Round Valley?

Must register any boat if over 12ft?

Does this sound right?

IC and I are planning to paddle and do a 1 nighter there around 4/23...mid week...

your welcome to join for the day or night...other ideas are welcome...what about Wharton St park?...Thx

You need a permit for any boat launch of any kind. Its a fish & game thing. If you are camping, I believe you do not need a parking permit, but must park in a certain area. No boat permits in Wharton SF (yet!!!)

From what I've heard Fish and Game handles the permits, technically you are getting a one day fishing permit to lauch at Round Valley. (That's of course if Corzine doesn't close the park). For sure, if they close the park, they'll probably close the campsite, but perhaps 4/23 is too early for anything to go down.

Thx, I have their phone # and will call them....thx for info....I did hear the other day about the possible closings of many NJ state parks and laying off I think it was 80 people....this problem won't be solved by closing state parks....
