If it ain't snowin' there, we ain't goin' there.
Uh oh.

"THE GUIDANCE BECOMES DIVERGENT AFTER 96 HR...WITH THE ECMWF/GFDL/NOGAPS TURNING
THE CYCLONE NORTHWESTWARD...AND THE GFS/HWRF SHOWING A
NORTHEASTWARD MOTION. OVERALL...THE GUIDANCE ENVELOPE HAS SHIFTED
EASTWARD SINCE THE PREVIOUS ADVISORY. HOWEVER...THIS IS IN PART
DUE TO A LARGE CHANGE IN THE GFS FORECAST AFTER 72 HR. THUS...THE
NEW FORECAST WILL SHIFTED ONLY A LITTLE TO THE EAST DURING THIS
TIME...AND IT LIES TO THE WEST OF THE CONSENSUS MODELS. HOWEVER...
IT REMAINS EAST OF THE ECMWF/NOGAPS/GFDL MODELS."

Hurricane Sandy Forecast Discussion 1100 pm, Oct. 24

Looks like Sandy added some carbs over night, impact area could be anywhere from Newfoundland to the jersey shore.Weather channel seems to indicate she should downgrade to a tropical storm by the time she reaches the northeast. This one seems to have a very unusual track[random at best].There is a big high to our northeast that is going to be the player on this one, steering Sandy to her final destination.Winds should be 60 to 70 sustained when it slams the coastal area around here.Wonder if she will be a dud? Button down the hatches![update;now its going to get new york!maybe.....]

Also, it's possible (depending on the track) that the counterclockwise circulation will pull down a bunch of cold air on the backside of the system, making the texture of the later precipitation questionable.

Yeah, a left hook followed by a right hook is a rare but nasty combination. Kind of like standing too close to Foreman in the ring ...

Trick, no treat: Forecasters predict ‘Frankenstorm’ freak hurricane-winter storm mix

Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap:

"Once the hurricane part of the storm hits, “it will get broader. It won’t be as intense, but its effects will be spread over a very large area,” the National Hurricane Center’s chief hurricane specialist, James Franklin, said Thursday.

One of the more messy aspects of the expected storm is that it just won’t leave. The worst of it should peak early Tuesday, but it will stretch into midweek, forecasters say. Weather may start clearing in the mid-Atlantic the day after Halloween and Nov. 2 in the Northeast, Cisco said.

“It’s almost a weeklong, five-day, six-day event,” Cisco said Thursday from NOAA’s northern storm forecast center in College Park, Md. “It’s going to be a widespread serious storm.”

With every hour, meteorologists are getting more confident that this storm is going to be bad and they’re able to focus their forecasts more.

The New York area could see around 5 inches of rain during the storm, while there could be snow southwest of where it comes inland, Cisco said. That could mean snow in eastern Ohio, southwestern Pennsylvania, western Virginia, and the Shenandoah Mountains, he said.

Both private and federal meteorologists are calling this a storm that will likely go down in the history books.

“We don’t have many modern precedents for what the models are suggesting,” Cisco said.

OH NO! Sounds like another Irene! My friend Irene changed her name to Grace after the last storm  Looks to be a long week.

I encouraged all my panicked coworkers today to buy as much Spam, Ramin and cheap vodka as their Priuses would carry. I expect I 'll be getting fewer Christmas cards this year.

If an odd character shows up and repeats "just give me waht I want and I will go away" better watch out:)

"an obscure reference to a Steven King book"
