I think I'd just roll up some cord and put it in my pocket. Easier to get to and unravel, and you don't have to worry about getting it hung up bushwhacking and injuring a wrist.

I learned to make them for fun but don't use them. It was a rare fartsie chraftsie thing.

They do look cool and the kids like them.
 
Of course. I thought it would be interesting to enumerate 10 (of the "million") usages for 8' of paracord. Personally I find 8' to be a bit short for some of the usages I could come up with. Only Raven has so far humored me.

Actually, it kind of depends on the thickness of your wrist and the kind of knots/braclet you make. In the link above to Fusionknot.com there are some fancy knots that use more cord. I made one with 10' of cord. Of course if you make 2 braclets and a fob then that will give you 25 feet! :D Plus in a braclet form it takes up less space/bulk than just rolled up and stuffed in a pack....plus it looks cooler! ;)
