Does anyone know a safe place to park a car for a week or two near the AT in Norwich, VT or Hanover, NH? My 11 yr. old section-hiking son needs to finish the AT through Vermont. We would like to come out of the woods at our car near the VT/NH line. I read (in the AT Companion) about a potential parking lot on the Dartmouth campus and I will soon give them a call. Does anyone have any personal experience with the parking situation, either in that lot, or do you know of the existence of a parking area somewhere on the VT side of the Conn. River? I would appreciate any information. Thanks!

When we hiked that section, we parked in a lot at Dartmouth College (though it was just an overnight trip.) We called the Dartmouth Outing Club and they directed us to the particular lot- (it changes if I recall correctly) they were very nice and helpful.

There is also a park-and-ride on the Norwich side. I've not heard of people having problems there and I've used it a bit.
