I'll be heading up I-93 to the Kanc on Tuesday July 5th. Where is the best place to buy a parking pass? Can I also get a "Golden Age" pass?

They are supposed to be for sale wherever you would buy admission to National Parks, forests, etc. so perhaps a Forest Sevice place rather than a private retail place is what I am loooking for.

It seems according to the National Park service I have reached Golden Age (I always thought it was silver). :)

I bought my last one at the Kancamagus Country Store in Lincoln. They are on the left as you drive towards the National Forest. They sell Irving Gas.

They open at about 5 AM, which is very convenient.

If you're on the eastern end of the Kanc, you can buy one at the Saco Ranger Station also, located near the junction near Rt. 16.

If you get a golden age passport, you don't need to pay USFS parking fees. Just put the pass on the dashboard. You have to stop and pick it up in person with ID. The new USFS visitor interpretive center at Exit 32 in N. Woodstock/Lincoln handles it, as does the one north of Pinkham on Rt. 16.

Exit 32

You'll take Exit 32 off Rt 93 to reach the Kanc. At the bottom of the exit ramp is a WMNF Information Center. Buy your pass there. And go to the bathroom too.

thanks,

It's too late now but if you want to go to the WMNF in the future try this .pdf I've used it the past couple of years that I've gone to the Whites and I used it this year for my upcoming trip this fall. Depending where you live the turnaround time is usually a week. :)

Thankyou.
That's just what I need to know.
