Im hoping someone could suggest a web site for finding partners, I know there some out there but IM terrible at web searching. I have been out west soloing and quite frankly could use some company, IM NH for the winter and would love to find local partners.

If you have interest in the adks, Ward and I (and two others I believe) are going to hike the sewards 9/16-9/18. Ward is also staying on (solo) and is doing tabletop, haystack, basin, saddleback and couchie the week of the 19th. I know he wouldn't mind someone along as well. I usually post under trips when we have a concrete plan, and we always go rain or shine. Anyone is welcome. Send me a pm if you have interest. Slamdog/ aka Lance

Besides finding partners here and in a club like AMC, you can also try the forums on backpacker.com. I'm not sure where you are located, but here in the Hudson Valley we have a very informal hiking group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HVOC/) that mainly hikes once a week after work and sometimes people will post on there for weekend hikes (could also post on there looking for somebody to hike with). Good luck!

But I need to find a dog receptive group! I'm restricted to the Daks and Catskills mostly but can go to NH on long holiday weekends.

Sabrina, are you interested in hiking some firetowers in the Daks ? I live in the Poughkeepsie area, and dogs are fine with me. My g.f. and I are working on the firetowers in the ADKs.

Also, for those down in NY, there is the Catskill 3500 Club and the ADK. Both lead hikes year round. I am a hike leader for 3500 Club, and I am leading at least one winter hike this coming season. (The o.p. mentioned winter hiking).

Thanks for all the advice, I think Ill take sli's advice, post my trips here read others and hopefully hook up with people on this site. Im looking for the whites and there does seem to be quite alot of people right here on this site.
Thanks again everyone.

Backpacker magazine's website also has a lot of message boards for people looking for hiking partners. I have not used them but I have heard good things about it.

But truly if you are looking for someone to hike with from NY to Maine this is the place to find them.

Hi Tom!
Thanks for the offer! I'm in Poughkeepsie nearly everyday as I am a Marist student and am doing a clinical rotation in the lab at St Francis hospital.
I just signed up for the 3500 club, so I may just see you on some of those hikes!
Sabrina

Be brave, POST IT!

Sierra,

As a newbie to the site, I posted for a hiking partner recently. Granted, my intro was probably a little "unconventional" for some, it did lead to completing a leg of a trip with a damn nice hiking partner.

... And as for you Catskill area folks, I'm going to keep tabs on you to join you for some hikes in your neck of the woods besides.
