Hi Everyone!

I was able to hangout with an old friend this past Thursday and decided to hike in Pawtuckaway. We did a pretty big loop, going over North and South Mountains. The skies were blue and the views were great. I even think I spotted Mount Washington's white cap poking up in the distance, but not totally sure.

Also, there were three NGS Reference Markers on North Mountain, all pointing to the summit cairn. Does anyone know if there is in fact an NGS Benchmark under the cairn??? I'm kicking myself for not digging into it to see for myself. Wondering if anyone else out there knows.

My full trip report and pictures are on my blog here: http://livefreeandhikenh.blogspot.com/2012/01/pawtuckaway-mountains-and-old-friend.html

Some of my favorite pics are below:

Editing this photo description, this is actually toward Northwood and not toward the Uncanoonucs...pulled the wrong photo!

I think...Mount Washington poking up in the distance. The quality is pretty bad due to how far I had to zoom in.

That's a great loop, have done it many times, I know nothing about the benchmarks unfortunately, I have always been curious as to what that huge metal billboard is on north peak going up from the boulder field? Looks like you had a nice day in some great woods that I really hope fill up with snow really soon!!

Pawtuckaway

Not sure about the benchmark, but there is a geocache in the cairn. The picture towards Northwood is Saddleback Mtn,. in Deerfield, the ones beyond are the Belknaps. That could be Washington, not sure. Possibly Chocorua.
