There seems to be a definite drop in message traffic with the end of winter although accurate trail conditions would still seem to be important. Presumably this is because "winter" hikers have gone into hibernation. To test this theory, I'm asking what seasons you have or expect to hike each of the NH 4k, feel free to substitute other lists in your answer.

I will probably do a 2nd round of the NH 48, with Laurie, in 3 seasons. Eventually...

We've both done the ADK 46 and Cat 35 in Winter. I'm working on the Cat 35 x 4 seasons.

Laurie wants to do the 35 x 35!

Depends on what list, But I am shooting for on the NH48 under the category of "anything" and then "winter". The category "anything" can include winter.. Does that make sense? :) I just go year 'round :)

not much into lists, been hiking since the mid 1990's (well have done mynadsknock a few times prior, but that doesn't count) and only have about 30 of the NH peaks and couple here and there in other new england states. I have pretty much done the peaks above 4500 a good few times each, and by most routes I think. trying to redline some of the stuff I haven't done - if it happens, but no plan to do it.

last 3 of years I started snow/ice climbing more, so pretty much hiking summer/fall now. didn't hike much this past winter.

But now that I have a son and he likes getting in the pack and hiking with me, I might start picking off the peaks I never has an interest doing before. I do admit, even though have done some pretty cool peaks in the cascades, etc. the f'ing 48 list is like a monkey on my back sometimes.. Feel like a loser not having done it. there I just spilled my guts....

I completed the 3 season list in 2003 while living in CT. Since relocated to NH in Sept, I am now concentrating on the winter list. I still continue to hike in all four seasons regardless of any list.

To bikehikeskifish,
Is that a Fluff post? :D

I think a lot of people take some time off in the Spring due to the mud and the mixed/unknown conditions. My pack gets heavy when there's summer conditions at the trailhead and winter conditions on the summit.

I hike pretty much with the same frequency 12 months out of 12. I try to move around and mix it up according to the conditions.

All-season and winter: ADKHH (which includes the 46)
All-Season only: ADK HH bushwhack.
Summer only and on nice sunny days  50 ADK slides.

This is because people don't need each others to break trail

I've done the NH peaks 1x as part of the NE111. I have some friends who want to start on the NH list. I'll try and see if some of the trips can work into other seasons. If I get a jump with the other seasons, that will give me incentive to get them in winter.
Otherwise the ADK 46 and Catskill 3500 x seasons, Cats x months.
Completed the ADK100 last year and hitting the Cat100's pretty hard.
Will soon be starting the Cat200 list and aim to hit all the named peaks on all the USGS Catskill quads.( I should add that I stole this idea from Peak_bgr and Bushwacker who are well along with doing every named mountain in the Adirondack Park...I get tired just thinking about it. They must be up to 600 to 700 by now.)

Lists, I don't believe in no stinkin' lists. ;)

Does anyone know who holds the record for most lists completed (and what is the record)? For example, Jerry Rice holds the record for most NFL records held ;)

Tim

Some lists are sub-lists of others, but I have 9:

ADK 46
ADK 46W
Cat 35
Cat 35W
ADK Fire Towers
NH 48
NE 67
NE 115
NY Views And Brews! :D

Still plugging away at:

ADKHH
CHH
NEHH
Vermont Views And Brews
Etc.

If only there were more Views And Brews chapters! :D

I believe that five people have completed the NH48 in each month (the 576 grid), but Ed Hawkins knows at least 100 folks who are pretty far along.

Presumably you mean "any season" rather than "all seasons"

My money is on John Swanson or Roy.
The NFL has a standard to compare against. I can't speak for JS but personally I've done few of the "recognized" lists. If I got Andy Martin interested we could invent dozens of 50-peak lists I've completed though :)

Hmm, Ed Hawkins must be close to completing the grid 5 times himself :)

Well, I ain't no Ed Hawkins (or anyone else, for that matter :D ), but since you asked I've just finished the 48 any season, am closing on the 67 and have as my next goal the 67W. That oughta be fun!

The older I get, the less excited I seem to be about lists (and I'm not even old  ). I've done the 115, 3500 Club, Fire Towers and associated lists. But I think I just really like new places and I feel like I've pretty much done the Northeast. I was chugging along towards finishing the NEHH and then just stopped at 88 - been sitting on that # for several years now and have zero desire to finish. When I go hiking "locally" these days, I pretty much go wherever the mood of the moment strikes me.

I'm big time into State Highpointing (38/50) but it's not really the list part that's exciting but going to new ranges and travelling the country.
