trails: lincoln woods trail, osseo trail, franconia ridge trail, garfield ridge trail, frost trail, twinway, bondcliff trail, west bond spur

conditions: trails all in good shape. mostly dry with stretches of mud particularly on the lower bondcliff trail. a fair amount of wet ledge on garfield ridge. signs of recent blowdown removal all along the route and drainage work on the bondcliff trail. bugs not much of an issue as long as we were moving. some black flies caught us in the bonds and mosquitoes were pretty active along the lincoln woods trail on the way out. water crossings all ok.

equipment: water purification equipment a good idea for this hike even with the galehead hut along the way.

comments: great day for the loop/horseshoe. we went clockwise and did side trips to galehead and west bond. the day started with us following a bear down the lincoln woods trail who seemed quite reluctant to get out of our way until a few sharp pole cracks finally sent him running. gorgeous conditions above treeline and decent temps all day. congratulations to cynthia on completing her first pemi. great day to be out.
