Yesterday I done my first Pemiloop in a day. What a long and
tough hike it was. I had an early start at 4:10 am and by my
surprise it was still very warm and humide. I went very fast
and reach Flume at 6:10 after had meet Jason and Dave on
my way to the summit. After couple of picture I went for
Liberty and at 6:40 I was at the summit. From Liberty to
Lafayette it was fine but the fog start to reach the summit.
From Lincoln to Lafayette I was in the fog. No view on the
summit of Lincoln-Lafayette and I was there at 8:40 am.
The hike from Lafayette to Galahead hut was long (3:30 hr)
and hard with all the rocks. It was still very warm and hot
except for the summit (cool wind). After a short break to eat
and drink some good limonade I went for S. Twin (skip Galaheat mt)
and at 1:00 pm I was on the summit. No stop and I went in direction
of the Bonds, again I had a great view on Guyot. I reach W. Bonds
at 2:30 pm and I took a good break on the summit. The descend and
hike up of Bonds was long (tired). After a short stop on Bonds I went
for Bonds cliff, lots of hiker on their way for Guyot shelters. The
blueberry was so good that I took lots of break to eat them. At
4:10 I was on top of Bonds Cliff (12 hours). From the summit I went
fast in my way down. I put my head in the brooks twice and it cool me
a lots. From the junction of Bonds cliff trail-Pemi it was a long hike
to my cars. I finish at 7:10 and very tired but very, very happy to
had done the pemiloop. :) :)

Hi Rejean...

I stopped by the Lincoln Woods parking area from 6:30 to 6:45 PM to see if you had finished yet, but I couldn't find you - I thought I would be too late but it turned out I was too early! I looked for a van with Quebec plates but didn't see it, either. I did drop off a hitch-hiker in the parking lot along the way. Did you see him sitting by the bathrooms? Did he ask you for a cigarette, too?

Congrats - not a bad time for someone that wasn't running! Next time you have to add Galehead - it is so close to the hut that there is no excuse not to!

:)

Hi Albee, I just mist you (finish at 7:10). I don't see the man near the
bathroom or I was to tired to see him. I skip Galahead because the sky
was not clear and it was already 12:30 pm went I leave the hut.
Maybe next time I would go for Galahead or N. Twin. Not this year!!!! :)

Soooo, did you go for a dip in the Pemi? ;)

Congrats! That's a tough hike and you hit it on a 80 degree day.
Good stuff

Congrats!

Hey Rejean, it was interesting to follow another car into the Lincoln woods parking lot at just before 4am. I was wondering if it was you, a small car with a bike (the bike had me puzzled)? Well, it was nice to meet you out on the trail. It was a splendid morning for sure, would have loved to continue but it was just a short casual stroll warming up and changing the sleeping habits for the up coming big hike.

Did you happen to summit Liberty in about 3 hours, if so we might have seen you from flume summit, also there was another person doing the pemi loop that day named mike not sure if he caught up to you or not, we met him on Liberty after sitting around there for awhile.

Jason
Great job Rejean. what's the mileage on that loop?
Around 32 miles, the last 5 seem very long even if I done them
very fast.

Wow-- I can't imagine covering that much territory in that amount of time.
Great job.

Rejean the Hiking Machine

Oh Oh, its gonna stick i'm afraid!

I think so and here his where it came from.
The nick name Hiking Machine came from my winter 2006 in the
Daks where I meet Tom and Rik for the first time. At that point in time
I had 14 peaks done in the winter of 2006 and it we where in
February. I continued to hike and at the end of February I was
at 25 peaks. In march after had hike a lot in that winter I became
in the best shape of my life so I increase my number of peak in each
hike. The first weekend of March I done 9 peaks in 3 days, the next
one I done 8 peaks in 4 days, the 3rd weekend I done the 4 remainer
(Seward range-Seymour). The weekend after (march25) I try to
hike Haystack-Marcy=Skylight-Algonquin in a day but I skip Algonquin
to avoid been late at the Winter 46ers diner.

In the rest of 2006 I complete in november all of the peaks in
the list of 111ers (115) in less than a year.

Now to keep in shape for next winter I do some very long and fun days
when the weather is good (March 31st hike,Pemiloop).

Who is interested in a Presitraverse on saturday!!!!
