Anyone been up the Squam Range recently? I hear that the snow line is around 2,500 feet, so they should be clear. Also south facing and lots of open hardwoods. Would prefer some real info, though! Thanks.
Well, the upper parts of the trail below the ledges were mostly bare when I hiked it on Feb. 28. Squam Lake ice was breaking up yesterday. It will be total ice-out by the end of the weekend. I can't believe there would be more than an occasional snow patch now. Let me know if you are going this weekend and want some company.
Dave Metsky joined us making this a very pleasant three person mini VFTT trip. Some ice high up on the Mt Morgan Trail, and several icy spots along the trail between the summits, but basically close to ice-free. I went off Mt Percival over the cliffs, Stopher and Dave went through the caves.
