I recently read the 46er article and hats off to Pete. I have been following some of his "antics" for over 10 years now, starting on Rec.Backcountry and the listserv.
When I was climbing 46, His listserv and his posts were always spot on useful.
When I started biking in the winter, I used his article on winter bike commuting to guide me.
When I started bike-commuting to work in Mass, I found his threads and atitude a huge motivating factor.
When I wanted to see how I could survive the cold, he came through with ideas of being half-naked outside his house in the winter. (uhhh....maybe next year....)
When I was recovering from surgery and needed motivation in the winter I read some of his cross country skiing exploits and then dusted off the skiis to go around the yard.
Pete, Your neighbors might think you're nuts, but thank you for all your postings, article and trip reports over the years - they have never failed to motivate me to get off my butt and bike my 10 miles/day or XC ski 2 miles in the winter or just go for a dayhike!!!
thank you!!! You Rock!!!! (and a great 46er article to boot!!!!)
