Route: Castle Ravine, Gulfside up to Adams & Madison, down Buttress, up Six Husbands, over Gulfside and down Sphinx, up Great Gulf to Washington, then a ridge walk out and over Jefferson via Castle Ridge where the beers await

Last fall I came up with an idea of combining one of my favorite trails, Castle Ravine, with a trail I had been meaning to get to--Six Husbands. I never got around to it and after crunching the numbers on the miles/elevation I was somewhat surprised the tally wasn't more. So I figured I'd add my favorite trail, Great Gulf, to the mix for a sweet loop with an even 10,000 feet of elevation gain and ~24 rough and tough miles.

I'll just let the photos tell the tale, it was one of the most rewarding hikes I've done in a while--start to finish chock full of great views. I hope you enjoy my attempt to capture it all!

Awe inspiring hike and photos, Bombadillo. I thought it was great, then the Torpedos in the stream really clinched it. Now that's what I call refreshment! Thanks

sweet!

nice little n.prezzi loop;) 3 awesome ups (cr,6h,gg) in 1 day, well played!:)

Nice hike & fantastic pictures! What kind of camera are you using?

Thanks! I'm using a canon elph 500--a decent point and shoot. The panos were stitched; you can see the seams on some photos upon close inspection but it does the job for my purposes.

I see you just did a similar hike so it's right up your alley! I was looking for a tough day hike that was something other than a presi or pemi loop, so this was perfect--hitting a bunch of my favorites in one fell swoop.
