Hey y'all. Are the trails covered with enough snow for plastic boots yet? I hate climbing around on bare rocks with big clunky plastics. I'm hoping to do Mt. W soon with a friend.

In other news, it feels like it's been years since I've gone on a hike. I'm finally allowing myself some time to get back into it this winter!! The only time I can take off is during the middle of the week so I should have Mt. W all to myself this winter. :)

yup it's time...I had them on for the 1st time this season last week...wore crampons most the day as well.

But...

I was up on Liberty last weekend in my leather boots and was glad I had not worn my plastics.

From trail head to 2500 feet there was only a few inches of snow. And the temps were in the 20s most of the weekend.

The Degrees would have been overkill for that trip.

Challenge was keeping the leathers dry given all the open water on the lower part of trail.

Good to know. I'll probably only have time to hike in a few weeks so there should be plenty more snow up there then. I can't wait! Mt. W here I come!!
