After a great early morning drive up Platte Clove Rd, we left the trailhead at the Catskill Center for Conservation, hiked past the Devil's Kitchen leanto, and took in the sights at Codfish Point. Following Moonray's very helpful directions, we walked the old quarry road past the two bluestone quarries and then began the 'whack up thru the open woods to Plattekill's inviting summit.
Open woods the whole way, no prickers, truly a walk in the park. Beautiful woods, warm but not hot out, and a light breeze.
Saw a Sharpie land in a tree near me on the way up and the Spring Beauties were out.
Nice, easy hike with Joanne and Bookah.
This is now one of my favorites and looking forward to showing the views, quarries and gorgeous woods to others on future trips.
Another tip of the hat to Moonray for all the tips.
Thanks...
Alan
