Seems a lot of previous recommendations have closed. I'm going to have a group of 6 coming off Mansfield on Memorial Day. We are likely to be hungry and very stinky. Recommendations for a place to eat (maybe with a patio?) in either Stowe or Waterbury on our way back home? Good beer a plus but not required; some sort of veggie option required.

The Bench on Mountain Road in Stowe might be a good choice. Another is Idletyme Brewing Company.

The sunset grill and taproom has an outside patio with great food. It is just off the mountain rd (108) on cottage club lane in Stowe. A little more laid back then the Bench and Idleytime which are also excellent.

Take a dunk in the river and go to Piecasso!! I wouldn't call it formal but it is busy. Next option would probably be Doc Ponds. Not sure about veggie option but both have an outdoor patio area and both are reasonably cool and have good beer. The Prohibition Pig in Waterbury is another nice option with some outdoor seating. Might be useful on a holiday weekend to call ahead if you can (?)

If you're into beer, you should plan to stop into the Alchemist and get yourself some Heady Topper and Focal Banger.

Have a great hike

Thanks for the suggestions, all. As it turned out, we woke up yesterday morning without a lot of pep and the thought of swimming up the mountain was unappealing. So we hit Maxi's for breakfast (definitely a thumbs-up) and headed home.
