Does anyone have suggestions for where to stay the night after a 4-night hike near Mt. Marcy? There are 8 of us, and we'll be looking for a quiet, yet inexpensive, place to crash that has (of course) SHOWERS available. We'll have tents, so a quiet campground would work. It'll be a Sunday or Monday night, which will hopefully improve availability and quiet....

The other thing we'll be looking for is a place to swim the following morning/afternoon before we pile in the cars for the trip home. Any favorite swimming holes you're willing to divulge? (PM if you do't want to broadcast....)

Whispering Pines Campground on Rte 73 south of the ADK loj road is clean, quiet and has showers. Not sure about swimming holes.

The Adirondack Loj has camping and a lake. Also, South Meadows is near by.

Easy to stop at the picnic area between the two Cascade Lakes. Swimming is great in either lake.
