Carmen's winter 48 complete! On Monroe
p802957472-4.jpg

This was the day we have been waiting for all winter. Light wind, mild temps, good visibility. The undercast was an unexpected treat.

On the trail at Appalachia 4:21 AM. Out at Crawford Notch 5:36 PM. 13 hrs 15 minutes. We were not shooting for time today... it was more of a movable party. On the subject of parties, thanks to the cool people from NH whose company we enjoyed at the Lakes Hut, one of whom had also finished his W48 on Monroe.

One split of champagne, over strawberries, consumed at Lakes; another on Monroe, and a wee dram of Bushmills, because after all it WAS St. Patty's Day, on the summit of Washington. Hiccup

Congratulations Carmen, and thank you!

Congrats on an awesome traverse! Some great pictures of the undercast. Where is all the snow and ice that was up there the other week?!

Congratulations Carmen! What an amazing day! Some great shots; wasn't that undercast amazing? Twice blessed this week.

awesome day

Thank-you Blaze for the wonderful day. Never in my wildest dreams, would I have imagined such wonders from the beauty of the sky and clouds. It was Magical. It was St Patty's Day

Good Carma

Congrats Carmen! It sounds like you and Jonathan had a great hike, can't wait to see the other photos. We'll have to do a belated celebration with jameson and cocoa on our next hike! P.S. solid time for a 'party' hike you guys!

Thanks to all for the kind comments!

Pat, wish you could have been there with us. Congrats on crushing your half marathon PR that day! Truth in advertising, the party moved a little bit quicker after we got off Pierce... basically we ran down the Crawford Path after that, to make sure we came in sub-14:10.

Congrats to all who finished a winter list that day. You picked a great day for it!

Carmen was able to finish this year due to a flurry of 11th hour peak bagging this month. She's not gonna tell you, so I will:

Moriah, 3/4
N. Kinsman, 3/8 - turned back from S, due to strong wind. After work!
Both Kinsmans, 3/10
Isolation (5 hrs 5 minutes) AND Wildcats, 3/11
Cabot, 3/13. In the dark. After work!
