Rainbow Trail....Oct. 29th

BecaM and I hiked Bog Brook Trail to Rainbow Trail to Carter Dome, then down to Carter Notch and down Wildcat River Trail...

early signs of the coming winter...

coyotes got first tracks on a bog brodge...

on the beautiful Rainbow Trail.....

a moose recently enjoyed some striped maple bark......yum...

the trail runs through these beautiful birch glades...

higher up the trail, looking like winter in the conifers...

the trail reaches a ridge with a nice open area...

is this a new slide (left side of pic) on the backside of Wildcat Range?

nice view to the south....foreground is the open area along the trail, next is Black Mtn.?, then Double Head, then Kearsarge Mtn., then the approaching nor'easter...

early winter...mountain ash berries stand out in the light snow dusting...

rust!!!! Becca likes hunting for rust....this was along the Wilcat River Trail, back down in autumn...

I was on Rainbow Ridge back in June. There doesn't appear to be a slide in this picture.

Love that Rainbow Trail !
Did it for the first time back in July.
Awesome birch glades and the ripe raspberry's slowed our book time down by at least an hour !

One of my most favorite trails! Thanks for the TR, new slide spotting, and pictures. I especially LOVE the first picture--you could use that for a holiday card!
